back from the field - 3/7/11 - testimony

Dear Family Friends & Prayer Warriors,

I want to take a moment to thank you all for praying for the team - God has moved in us and through us!! You have indeed played a beautiful part by praying with us and for us, truly lifting us up!!

I want to share with you a testimony - from Sophia

I know that God is getting my attention when the same theme keeps showing up my path right and left.

Several months ago the theme of negativity was brought to the forefront of my mind. As I was sharing my testimony to a group about what God's currently doing in my life, I learned that our Miracle House team was instructed to start a 40-day negativity fast in preparation for our ministry prior to our arrival in Kenya. I knew that this was another confirmation of both what God's doing in my life as well as God's leading for our joining the Miracle House team.

Because of the intentional exercising of saying "no" to pessimistic thoughts based on God's promises, my faith muscle had been trained and prepared for the challenges to come during our time and work here in Kenya.

One break through point happened when we visited a large local public school in Nimuru - our very first school visit. We gave a gospel presentation, play games and sports with them. We were told that this would be their most memorable event of the year for them. The "mazungu's"(white foreigners) visits are very rare. Our team leader Deanna encouraged and charged us with the reminder that we were carrying the Kingdom of God with us to these children, go and impart the Kingdom and blessing to them. Normally, that would pass through my ears like cliche (unbelieving), but this time it grabbed my attention. A new voice in my heart responded: "Yes, I do carry the Kingdom of God, I am the Kingdom of God. I have the authority to impart these blessings. It does make a difference!" That was God working in my heart.

Another God moment was when the children were so excited to shake our hands as we were leaving, I looked down and saw my hand surrounded with hundreds of little eager hands. My heart was greatly moved: such a simple way for us to bless them. All of a sudden, I saw Jesus' hand shaking the little hands. It dawned on me at that moment: I wasn't Sophia, but the vessel of Jesus loving these children through me. It was not about Sophia, but all about Jesus coming out through me. I was deeply grateful that in spite of Sophia, I was privileged and honored to be an instrument of God."

Our two weeks time in Kenya has proven fruitful both internally and externally. God was good. Both the messengers and the receivers were richly blessed.

********************************************* thank you for standing with us - God is moving mightily! Releasing the Kingdom... deanna <><

What you shared brought me to tears. It is amazing how God's blessings are right at our finger tips, often as they are touching others! Thanks for sharing.
