Road Trip Education!                        November 5, 2008

While traveling the past 3 weeks with my daughters – we listened to Hannah Hurnard’s, Hinds Feet in High Places.  The main character, Much Afraid, is from the family of “Fearings”.  I’m not going to do a book report here, but another of the characters names came back to me last night as I lay in bed.  I think it was Aunt – Dismal Forebodings.  I had to look up the words to be sure the exact meanings…

Dismal
dis·mal adj
1.    depressing to the spirit or outlook
2.    showing a lack or failure of hope
3.    very poor or inadequate

Forebode
fore·bode vti (formal)
1.    to be or give an advance warning of something that may happen, especially something undesirable
2.    to have a feeling that something bad is going to happen before it does

As I’ve listened around the past several weeks in many conversations and various situations, I’m hearing a theme.  I think many people are experiencing the feeling of dismal foreboding.  As I’ve pondered this, I’ve confessed the family of “Fearings” was knocking at my door.  But, no more!!!

Friends, we must recognize fear can be subtle; let’s identify and rebuke fear – let’s stand in faith, strength and power!!  Pray!  Rise up and pray saints!  This is no time to back up, it is the time to STORM THE GATES!

Happy 11/11 God is Faithful Day!!

 

Years ago - during the time we were waiting to adopt J & J God spoke a word to me about his faithfulness and it was on 11/11 - Ever since when ever I see the time 11:11 or the date is 11/11 or even a mile marker is 111 I thank God for his faithfulness!  Faithful it is his name!!
