final on trip - future...

Hi Friends

We have now been back for a week from Kenya and “wow” so much is happening!!

*We added two children to our Limuru location

*We opened the Webuye location – started with 15 and I spoke with Pastor Sammy Saturday and four more have their paper work in and are now Miracle House children!  So Miracle House Webuye is at 19 and growing fast, Praise the Lord!! (we began with 44 children on a list, guardians are working to collect proper papers)

*We have located the “God Gift” property we have been praying for!!  Many things bring me to the place of “knowing” these are the 10 acres we have been praying for!!  These are stories for another day ;-)  Today we are Celebrating – God’s Faithfulness and giving Him Glory!

I will be updating the blog with many stories in the next few weeks – but, here is the bottom line for this week!  READ ON!!

In the two years that Miracle House has been in existence we have been able to put $65,000 in savings for our future – well our future is upon us in this opportunity to purchase this land for development for a full time home for our children!! and the many more to come in the future.  We are in the negotiation stages.  We will be writing a contract in the next 24 hours.  We are researching and consulting in the process.  We know others are looking at this property and we need to write a contract asap in order for them to know our seriousness in the transaction.  Please pray with us!!  We are asking the owner to work with us, as we tell the story and ask people to consider giving toward this goal!

The $65,000 we have is just under half of what we will need to secure this land.

So obviously we need about $75,000 asap –

I know that sounds crazy, but as I said to Pastor Sammy – What about this whole thing hasn’t been crazy!!  Crazy, in an AMAZING GOD sort of way!!

*We know God is our provider and he uses ordinary people in the process…

*He owns the cattle on a thousand hills… we are just looking at one hill and would love to have a few cows to go on it ;-) along with a plethora of precious children!!

*From the beginning of this whole wild ride, when I asked God about finances, he said
    - “pray and
    - talk to people, tell them what I (God) am doing”

so that is what I’ve done and people want to be involved, people have given generously!!
I give God Glory!!  So this isn’t a time when I’m motivated to jump on every fundraising idea I’ve ever hear of, it is a time I come to you and ask you – you who have a heart connected to this ministry to join me in doing what God has asked…

Pray and talk to people, tell them what God is doing and let them know the need!!

$75,000 – for property purchase
10,000 – that’s 20 people giving $500 – and get this, the first one of these was on                                 my doorstep yesterday before the need was known – awesome!!
 20,000 -  and 20 people giving $1000
 20,000 – and 10 people giving $2000
 15,000 – and 3 people giving $5000
 10,000 – and 1 person giving $10,000
brings us to our current goal –

have I mentioned I have the gift of faith??    ;-)

God has certainly built my faith on this journey – God has spoken and people have given generously – I give Him Glory for the great things he has done!!

Naturally, more will be needed for development of the property - keep those other gifts coming!! You are making a difference in the lives of these children!

Watch for stories coming soon! and check out July newsletter as I post it tomorrow!

Would love your comments/feedback!!

Thank you for partnering with Miracle House!!

For His Glory, deanna <><

June 19th Update - Heading Home!

Hi friends!

The left this morning (late last night Kenya time) for London. They spent most of the day yesterday with the MH kids. It was a hard goodbye - every visit builds closer relationships and makes it harder to say goodbye. This time, even teachers and MH kids were teary eyed! The kids were already asking how long it will be until the team returns. Even though it's bittersweet, I'm so thankful for the incredible people and friendships the Lord has blessed us with in our Kenya family :)

Here are a few ways that you can continue to pray:

- Pray for continued favor with all of the paperwork in Kenya. The guardians of our kids do need to have a lot of important documents, and this is extrememly difficult for them to get. Pray that this will happen smoothly and quickly. Pray also for the MH staff - for wisdom, grace, and discernment as they are dealing with this process!

- Pray for wisdom regarding property! Sam has a copy of a potential contract - she is revieweing and rereading. Pray for wisdom for MH, both for those in Kenya and in the States, as we work through this process of purchasing property. Obviously, communication can be a little bit of a barrier here, so pray that God would intervene in this situation and work it all out as He wills it! Please continue to pray for wisdom, understanding, and discernment.

- Pray for God's provision for the funds necessary to purchase property! This is a huge part of our ability to move forward... pray for financial provision!

The team will reach Denver (their final destination) tomorrow (Friday) night around 5pm Colorado time... keep in mind that they have been traveling since noon today! Along with safe travels, pray for rest, strength, and restoration! Pray that God would continue working in them as they return to the States (which is almost more of a culture shock that going to Africa). Pray that they would take the time to process and work through everything they experienced in Kenya - pray that they would discover everything the Lord has for them!

Your prayers have been such a huge part of this trip - more than you know! I believe that each prayer you have prayed is being heard and is working even now... whether we see it in this world or not! Thank you for allowing God to use you to accomplish His work!

God bless you!

:)

June 18th Update!

Hi friends!

The team enjoyed more time at Miracle House today - they made prayer journals with the children! Deanna said that it is so fun to see that the children are able to understand more and more English - Ken, especially, is learning and understanding so much, so fast! He has been at MH for less than a year, but he catching up so fast!

Tonight the team will be spending time with Pastor Sammy and Eve - pray for Eve, as she has pain from arthritis. Pray for her complete healing and restoration!

Tomorrow (Thursday) the team will be spending their last day in country at Miracle House, as well as finishing up a few administrative tasks, like collecting files and papers that need to come back to the States. Pray that their last day with the kids would be special!

Tomorrow they have a late flight out of Nairobi to London. Pray for safe and restful travels!

Have a blessed day!

June 17th Update!

Hi friends!

Today the team went to Limuru Mission School, where most of MH's elementary students go to school. Three of our MH girls - Judy, Jane, and Diana - did the drama with Landon!! These girls presented the gospel in front of their school - how exciting!!! Sam "threw out the net" as we say - she gave the gospel presentation and invitation! Pray that the seeds that were planted today will continue to grow and bear fruit! And pray for the MH kids who attend Limuru Mission - may they be a light to their peers!

Today the team also had a lot of time to walk throught the slum - praying, playing, and just being with the people! This morning they had a worship/prayer time as a team, and they spent some time specifically praying about the next step with the property. Pray for wisdom for them and Pastor Sammy - to know how/what/when to make an offer or contract on the property!!!

Thanks so much for your prayers - you are effecting eternity!!!

:)

June 16th Update!

Hi friends!!

The team has had a great two days, so I'd like to fill you in on all that has happened!

Yesterday Deanna spoke at Imani Baptist Church in Misri slum. Her focus was to empower the people to pray for each other and walk in the authorite that we all have as believers! She didn't know all of the specific stories, since the people were praying for each other and she wasn't involved, but she said there were several miraculous healings! Praise the Lord for everything He is doing at Imani!! And that He uses all of His followers to furthur His Kingdom!

Yesterday the team also had a guardian meeting for the Limuru location. They gave each guardian a specific list of the papers (birth certificates, death certificates, etc.) that they need to gather, and in some cases they gave the guardian the money necessary for travel to get these papers. In some cases, the guardians were unable to get the papers because they didn't have the $5 worth of shillings to travel. One guardian, who was given travel money, was unable to sign the receipt because she didn't know how to write her own name. Other stories like this have made it difficult for the team to here - pray for God's provision for these people and His peace for the team!

Stephen, who will be directing/spiritually leading the Webuye location, spent the day at MH in Limuru today (Monday)  for orientation. It was a great day of equipping and empowering him to go and lead in Webuye!! Pray for wisdom, discernement, and love for him as he leads the Webuye location!

Here's some fun stories/praises about the time at MH today:

Margaret's finger (see a previous post if you haven't heard this story) is doing much better - the swelling is down and she said it doesn't hurt her anymore!

The children are understanding a lot of English, which is definitely fun for the team! They are learning and growing in both their understanding and communication skills!

Today they also read letters from child sponsors and others who sent letters and pictures to the kids. It was fun for the team to watch the children smile and laugh as they read their letters! It was also a great way for the children to read and talk with the team!

Ken, whose two younger siblings have been at MH since it opened, joined MH last August. He's 13, but working with the preschoolers since he had not attended school. Even in January, we still saw some anger in him as he would pull away from the group sometimes. Today, however, the team enjoyed listening to him sing praises to the Lord as he worked on an activity! Deanna said that he has incredible joy from the Lord and that she has seen transformation in him since January! Praise the Lord!

Our staff in Limuru is also doing well! The team was able to meet Milli's baby girl for the first time - they said she is beautiful! They also got to spend time with Maureen's baby boy, who had grown a lot since January!!

The Lord is awesome!! I love hearing the stories about how He is working in Kenya! Thanks for being part of that with your prayers!

:)
